titleOfInvention | Method for concentrating durene |
abstract | PURPOSE: To concentrate efficiently durene from a mixture of compounds having approximate boiling points, by distilling a mixture of 10C alkylbenzenes under ordinary pressure or higher pressure in the former stage, and distilling the distillate under reduced pressure in the latter stage, utilizing the specific physical properties of the durene. n CONSTITUTION: Durene (1,2,4,5-tetramethylbenzene) is concentrated from an alkylbenzene mixture containing 1,2-dimethyl-3-ethylbenzene, 1,2,4,5-tetramethylbenzene and 1,2,3,5-tetramethylbenzene, etc. In the process, the distillation is carried out under ordinary or higher pressure in the former stage, and then under reduced pressure, preferably ≤100Hg pressure in the latter stage to concentrate the durene by utilizing the specific physical characteristics of the durene (characteristics of a large rate of change in boiling point in variation of pressure as compared with another 10C alkylbenzene). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
