abstract | PURPOSE: To carry out efficiently the aerobic fermentation of hardly decomposable reed in a short time by adding the cake of dehydrated sludge to a dried reed and mixing, setting the amt. of airflow so that the specified relation between the total amt. of BOD in the mixture and the amt. of airflow may be obtained, and passing air forcibly. n CONSTITUTION: In the aerobic fermentation using reed as a raw material 20W50wt% cake of dehydrated sludge or dung is added to the reed which is dried to 80W60% water content and mixed. Air is forcibly passed through the mixture so that the ratio of the amt. of air flow to the total amt. of BOD, based on the total amt. of BOD in the mixture, may be regulated to 1.0W3.5l/ min.kg O 2 .
