abstract PURPOSE:To provide a novel protoplast hybrid cell having the antitumor activity of Fomes japonicus and the edibility of Grifola frondosa, and obtained by the cell fusion of Fomes japonicus and Grifola frondosa. CONSTITUTION:The pieces of the tissue of fruit body of Fomes japonicus and Grifola frondosa are implanted aseptically in respective culture bases to effect the growth of mycelia. The mycelia are proliferated, transplanted in liquid media, cultured, treated with an enzyme liquid containing a combination of cellulase, dolicellase, thymoliase, etc., and centrifuged. After discarding the supernatant liquid, the residue is washed with an aqueous solution of NaCl and then with a polyethylene glycol slution to obtain the objective cell.
