titleOfInvention Production of alpha-l-aspartyl-l-phenylalanine methyl ester
abstract PURPOSE: N-Formyl-α-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine is treated with methanol-HCl and the main product is hydrolyzed to give the titled compound in high yield through an industrially simplified process. n CONSTITUTION: N-Formyl-α-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine is treated with methanol-HCl, preferably at 20W60°C for 1W30hr to effect deformylation and diesterification to form α-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine dimethyl ester as a major product. Then, the resultant dimethyl ester is hydrolyzed in hydrochloric acid to give the objective compound. n EFFECT: There is no problem on stability, because L-phenylalanine methyl ester is not used. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
