titleOfInvention Bis(beta-hydroxyethyl)6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoa-te and preparation thereof
abstract NEW MATERIAL:bis (β-hydroxyethyl) 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy) di-2-naphthoate of formula I. n USE: A raw material of polyester. The polyester obtained by the polycondensation of the compound has a melting point of as high as nearly 295°C, and gives a molded article having hgih Yound's modulus by melt molding process. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting an alkali metal salt of 2-hydroxy-6-naphthoic acid ester of formula II (R is univalent organic group; M is alkali metal) with 1,2-dihaloethene in ethylene glycol, preferably 0W200°C, especially 70W100°C in the presence of a carbonate as an alkali source. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
