titleOfInvention | Aqueous polyester resin |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled resin of improved resistance to hydrolysis with high storage stability suitable for coatings, by incorporating an aqueous solvent with sulfonic acid metal salt group-contg. aromatic dicarboxylic acid- copolymerized polyester and specific epoxy compound. n CONSTITUTION: The objective resin comprising (A) a polyester resin with a molecular weight 2,500W30,000 whose acid component is made up of 0.5W20mol% of sulfonic acid metal salt group-contg. aromatic dicarboxylic acid and 99.5W80mol% of polycarboxylic acid (e.g., terephthalic acid), (B) an epoxy compound with an epoxy equivalent 60W400, (C)a water-soluble organic compound with a boiling point 60W200°C (e.g., methanol) and (D) water. This resin can be obtained as follows: The component (A) is mixed with both components (C) and (D); at the same time, or following that, the component (B) is incorporated in such an amount as to satisfy the equations I, II, and III [(A), (B), (C), and (D) represent the amounts by wt. of the components (A), (B), (C), and (D), respectively]. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
