titleOfInvention Production of modified polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain in high productivity a modified polyester readily dyeable with basic dye with reduced foreign substances in the final polymer, by incorporating a specific amount of an aromatic carboxylic acid compound in sulfonic acid compound-copolymerized polyester. n CONSTITUTION: An esterification or ester interchange reaction is carried out between. (A) an acid component (e.g., terephthalic acid) and (B) a glycol. Before the completion of the above reaction, (C) 0.5W10mol%, based on the component (A), of a sulfonic acid compound of formula I (R 1 and R 2 are each H or 1W4C alkyl; M is Na, Li, K, etc.) is brought to copolymerization; and furthermore, at such a pint that a conversion of 70% or higher has been reached, (D) aro matic carboxylic acid of formula II (R 3 and R 4 are each H, 1W4C alkyl, etc.) and/or formula III (R 5 and R 6 are each 1W4C alkyl) (e.g., benzaic acid) is added to the system is such an amount as to satisfy the equation IV (A is total mole number for both components (C) and (D); S is mole number for the component (B)) to perform polycondensation, thus obtaining the objective polyester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
