abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled suppressing agent containing L-α-alanine as an active component, and effective to protect the living body from the toxicity of acetaldehyde generated in the blood by the drink of alcoholic drink. n CONSTITUTION: The objective agent contains L-α-alanine as an active component. The L-α-alanine may be a mixture of D- and L-α-alanine. It is used in the form of a pharmacologically permissible salt of the amino acid, e.g. hydrochloride, etc. together with a conventional assistant component used in medicine and food fields, e.g. vehicle, carrier, such as lactic acid, sucrose, sugar syrup, magnesium stearate, etc., and formed to capsule, tablet, drink, etc. The content of the active component in the medicine is preferably 0.5W20g per dose.
