PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer in good workability, by preparing an O/W emulsion-form organic peroside containing an organic peroxide, a nonionic surfactant and a specified protective colloid, adding a vinyl chloride monomer to this emulsion and subjecting the monomer to suspension polymerization. n CONSTITUTION: An O/W emulsion-form organic peroxide is prepared by mixing an organic peroxide [e.g., di(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate] with a nonionic surfactant (e.g., sorbitan laurate) and a protective colloid of a high water- solubility (e.g., polyvinyl acetate of an average degree of polymerization ≤600 and a degree of saponification ≥60mol%). A mixture of this emulsion, a vinyl chloride monomer and, optionally, copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers (e.g., ethyl acrylate) is subjected to a polymerization condition to effect the suspension (co)polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
