titleOfInvention | Solubilization of fluorometholone in water |
abstract | PURPOSE: A specific aqueous solution is used to enable fluorometholone, a steroidal anti-inflammatory hard soluble in water to be solubilized in water in a large amount whereby a water-soluble complex which is used as eye drops is obtained in low costs with industrial advantage. n CONSTITUTION: Fluorometholone is added to an aqueous solution of heptakis(2,6- di-O-methyl)-beta-cyclodextrin (abbreviated to DM-CyD) and solubilized by stirring at room temperature or under cooling or under heating for 1 hour to form a complex of fluorometholone with DM-CyD. The complex is readily isolated by freeze-drying. The complex is readily soluble in water with more than 50% solubility and used as an aqueous preparation, especially eye drops. The eye drops can be prepared by using the isolated complex or the complex solution can be directly used as such. The concentration of fluorometholone is preferably 0.2W0.0001% in the eye drops. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
