abstract PURPOSE: To provide a perfume composition containing 1,5,8,8-tetramethyl bicyclo[8.1.0]undec-5-en-2-one, having various kinds of perfumes, and exhibiting strong diffusibility and retainability. n CONSTITUTION: The objective perfume composition contains 1,5,8,8-tetramethyl bicyclo[8.1.0]undec-5-en-2-one (bicyclohumulenone). The bicyclohumulenone can be obtained by extracting a dried and pulverized Plagiochila acanthophylla with a solvent such as ether, halogenated hydrocarbon, alcohol, etc., and has fragrance having woody note as a base having strong powdery character, and having various kinds of perfumes such as patchouli note, vetiver note, cedar wood note, carnation note, etc. It has strong diffusibility and retainability, and harmonizes well to various perfumery materials.
