abstract PURPOSE:To improve fixability of a toner and offset resistance by using a copolymer of methacrylate and/or acrylate and a vinyl monomer contg. silicon as a core material in a toner composed of the core material and an outer shell. CONSTITUTION:The resin of the core material is composed essentially of a copolymer of methacrylate and/or acrylate, such as 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate or dodecyl acrylate, and a vinyl monomer contg. silicon, such as 3- methacryloxypropyl-trimethoxysilane or trimethyl(p-vinylphenyl)silane. A magnetic material and a colorant are dispersed into this resin to form the core material, and coated with the outer shell to obtain a microencapsulated toner. The use of the Si-contg. copolymer permits fixability of the toner and offset resistance to be improved.
