titleOfInvention | Thermal transfer recording medium |
abstract | PURPOSE:To enable printing to be performed multiple times with high sensitivity, high printed density and favorable printing quality while obviating ground contamination, by incorporating a specified compound in a heat-fusible coloring material layer. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer recording medium comprises an adhesive layer on a base, and at least one heat-fusible coloring material layer on the adhesive layer. When two or more coloring material layer are provided, an intermediate layer may be provided between adjecent ones of the layers. The heat-fusible coloring material layer comprises a compound of the general formula, wherein R is 18-50C alkyl or alkenyl, and Y is carbonyl or methylene group, a heat-fusible substance, a coloring agent, a softener or the like. The compound is preferably compatible with the heat-fusible substance, and may be, for example, a monobasic saturated fatty acid such as behenic acid, cerotic acid, montanic acid and melissic acid, which may be used singly or in combination. By using such a compound, a cohesive failure property is imparted to the heat-fusible coloring material layer, and it is possible to print multiple times with high sensitivity, high printed density and favorable printing quality. |
