abstract PURPOSE: To provide a composition having freely adjustable phase-transition temperature and physical properties, and working especially at a low temperature, by compounding water to a polymer having polyoxyethylene group at the side chain and obtained by the (co)polymerization of specific monomers. n CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be prepared by compounding (A) a polymer obtained by polymerizing one or more monomers of formula (R 1 is H or methyl; R 2 is H, 1W4C alkyl or phenyl; n is 1W50), or by copolymerizing the monomer of formula I with other ethylenic unsaturated monomer, and (B) water. The content of the monomer of formula in the polymer is 10W100wt%. The recurring number (n) of the oxyethylene unit of the monomer is preferably 2W30.
