NEW MATERIAL:A 3-(indan-5-yloxy(or thio)cyclopentanecarboxylic acid deriva tive shown by the formula I (X is O, or S; R is H, or 1W3C alkyl) or its nontoxic salt when R is H. n EXAMPLE: 1,3-trans-3-[{(2RS)-2-cyclopentyl-2-methyl-6,7-dichlor-o-1-oxoindan-5-yl} oxy]cyclopentanecarboxylic acid. n USE: A remedy having strongly inhibitory action on formation of brain edema, useful for cerebral ischemic diseases such as cerebrovascular disease, reduction in cerebral blood flow, brain ischemia, brain anoxia, spiral cord injury, etc. A drug effective for preventing and remedying brain edema. n PREPARATION: A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a com pound shown by the formula III (Y is halogen, alkylsulfonyloxy, etc.), to give a compound shown by the formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
