titleOfInvention Molding polyacrylonitrile composition
abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled molding compsn. which can be easily molded, is not discolored during heating and is suitable for use in the production of gas barrier film, etc., by blending a zinc chloride complex of a neopentyl type polyhydric alcohol (partial ester) with polyacrylonitrile. CONSTITUTION:3-50pts.wt. zinc chloride complex of a neopentyl type polyhydric (partial ester) is blended with 100pts.wt. polyacrylonitrile to obtain the desired molding polyacrylonitrile compsn. By this blending, the intermolecular cohesive force of polyacrylonitrile is relaxed to thereby facilitate molding and further polyacrylonitrile can be prevented from being discolored by an intramolecular cyclization reaction during heating. Examples of the neopentyl type polyhydric alcohols are pentaerythritol, mannitol, etc. The complex can be obtd. by adding 0.5mol of zinc chloride to 1mol of said alcohol and melting the mixture by heating.
