abstract PURPOSE: The titled resin suitable for use in plastic lenses, prepared by radical- copolymerizing a specified, metal-containing monomer with a monofunctional monomer and a polyfunctional monomer. n CONSTITUTION: A metal-containing monomer of the formula [wherein R 1 is H or methyl, M is a metallic element (Ba or St), R is a 4C or higher hydrocarbyl group, and m is the valance of the metal], e.g., a compound obtained by a reaction among 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, capric acid and barium hydroxide is mixed with a monofunctional monomer (e.g., styrene) and a polyfunctional monomer (e.g., 2,2-bis(4-methacryloxyethoxyphenyl)propane and, after adding a radical polymerization initiator, poured into a desired mold and cured by heating. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
