titleOfInvention Polyphenylene ether resin composition having improved plating characteristics
abstract PURPOSE:A composition being easily processed with an aqueous solution of acid into rough surface to show improved plating characteristics, obtained by blending a mixture of polyphenylene ether resin and a vinyl aromatic resin with a specific metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of polyphenylene ether resin and a vinyl aromatic compound is blended with one or more of metal hydroxides selected from aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide. Poly(2,6-dimethyl- 1,4-phenylene)ether, a copolymer of 2,6-dimethylphenyl/2,3,6-trimethylphenol, or a graft copolymer of 2,6-dimethylphenol/2,3,6-trimethylphenol is preferably used as the polyphenylene ether resin. A blending ratio of the polyphenylene ether resin to the vinyl aromatic resin is (95/5)-(5/95), preferably (90/10)-(10/90). The mixture is blended with 5-25wt% metal hydroxide having 0.01-30mu average particle diameters.
