titleOfInvention | Unsaturated polyester resin composition |
abstract | PURPOSE: An unsaturated polyester resin composition excellent in air dryability, grindability, water resistance, moisture resistance, etc., and suitable for use in wood or putty paints, obtained by adding a plymerizable monomer to an unsaturated polyester having a specified composition and specified properties. n CONSTITUTION: Preparations are made for an unsaturated polyester obtained from 5W40wt% α-olefin oxide of the formula (wherein R is a 10W16C straight alkyl), 5W40wt% dicylopentadiene (derivative), and 90W20wt% α, β unsaturated polybasic acid (e.g., maleic anhydride) and, optionally, other modifying components, and having the following properties: viscosity (as measured in a solution of 65pts.wt. ester in 35pts.wt. styrene) of 1W20P (25°C, Gardner) and acid value ≤40. This unsaturated polyester is mixed with a polymerizable monomer (e.g., styrene or ethyl acrylate) to obtain the titled resin composition. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
