titleOfInvention Production of powder, granular or flaky quaternary ammonium salt
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound having improved crystal stability with a low free amino acid content in heating and concentrating a hydrous solution of a quaternary ammonium salt in a hydrous alcoholic solvent, by cooling, maturing and finely dividing the solution in the presence of water in a specific concentration while keeping the above-mentioned moisture concentration. n CONSTITUTION: A solution of a quaternary ammonium salt having two long- chain alkyl groups in a hydrous alcoholic solvent is concentrated under heating to give 1W5wt% moisture concentration contained therein, and the resultant concentrate is cooled, matured and solidified at ≤30°C for ≥1hr while keeping the moisture concentration at 1W5wt%, preferably 1.5W3.5wt%. The solidified material is then finely divided at ≤40°C, preferably ≤35°C to give the aimed material.
