| abstract | PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of shape and to improve the quality of information on recording and reproduction by providing a recording layer consisting of a thin metallic film on a high polymer base plate having mechanical strength of specific Young's modulus. n CONSTITUTION: A recording layer 1 consisting of a thin metallic film is provided on a high polymer substrate 2 possessing the mechanical strength at which the ratio between the Young's modulus measured at 10 4 %/min tension rate and the Young's modulus measured at 10 5 %/min tension rate is ≥2 times and Young's modulus measured at 10 5 %/min tension rate is ≥1,000kg/mm 2 . The layer 1 is formed of Co, Ni, Fe alone or an alloy such as CoCr, CoNi or MnAl or oxide such as Fe 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 or the like by vacuum evaporation, sputtering, plating, etc. The plate 2 is formed mainly of a material such as acetate, polyethylene terephthalate, polyimide, polyamide.
