titleOfInvention | Acrylic resin composition |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a milk-white translucent resin compsn. which has high whiteness with respect to surface tone and is suitable for illuminating purpose, by blending a specified fine inorg. particle with methyl methacrylate polymer. n CONSTITUTION: A resin compsn. consists of 2W6pts. fine inorg. particle having an average particle size of 1W30μ and a pH of 5.5W7.5 and 100pts. methyl methacrylate polymer. Examples of the fine inorg. particles are titanium oxide, talc, precipitated calcium carbonate, precipitated barium sulfate, silica, etc. The term "pH of fine inorg. particle" used herein means the pH of supernatant liquid obtd. by placing 10g of the inorg. particle in 200cc of ion exchanged water, thoroughly stirring the mixture and then leaving the mixture to stand to allow the inorg. particle to settle. When the pH value is lower than 5.5, the whiteness the surface of the resulting milk-white translucent acrylic sheet is low and slightly yellowish, while when it exceeds 7.5, additive components are adversely affected. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
