abstract PURPOSE: To produce an adhesive polyethylene having improved adhesivity to metals and thermoplastic resins, etc., by melting and mixing a straight-chain low-density polyethylene having specific physical properties with an alkali metal salt of an unsaturated carboxylic acid. n CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer is produced by melting and mixing (A) a straight-chain low-density polyethylene having a melt index of 0.05W10g/10min, a density of 0.915W0.935g/cm 3 , a molecular weight distribution of 2W12 (the ratio of weight-average molecular weight to number-average molecular weight) and a melting point of 115W135°C with (B) an alkali metal salt of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid (preferably monosodium maleate) and preferably (C) a radical polymerization initiator (e.g. dicumyl peroxide).
