abstract | PURPOSE:To provide a dentifrice useful to recognize the proper tooth-cleaning time and the cleaned state of the sordes on tooth easily with the naked eyes, by compounding conventional moist dentifrice or a toothpaste with a specific amount of an acidic solvent, mixing with an acidity indicator, and adding a fluorescent dye to the mixture. CONSTITUTION:An acidic solvent such as citric acid is added to a dentifrice at a molar concentration of 0.07-0.35M, 4-5.5pH and 10-50wt%. An acidity indicator such as chlorophenol red, bromothymol blue, neutral red, etc. is added to the mixture in an amount of 0.02-0.1%, and a fluorescent dye such as food red 3, carotin, chlorophyll, etc. is added thereto at a ratio of 0.01-2.0% to obtain the objective dentifrice. The dentifrice discolors after the proper tooth- cleaning time to enable the recognition of the right timing with naked eye, and the state of cleaned sordes on teeth can be detected easily by irradiating with a specific radiation to effect the emission of light. |
