titleOfInvention | Manufacture of polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester of improved affinity for particle, suitable for making fiber or film of outstanding lubricity, transparency and wear resistance, by using particulate calcium charbonate prepared by grinding the original calcium carbonate in the presence of carboxylic acid compound. n CONSTITUTION: A combination of (A) 100pts.wt. of calcium carbonate and (B) pref. 0.1W30 (esp 0.5W20)pts.wt. of a carboxylic acid compound (e.g., sodium phthalate, sodium terephthalate) is ground into particulates with an average size, pref. ≤5μ (esp. ≤2μ), being incorporated in the reaction system at any point prior to completion of the polymerization for the objective polyester (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate, polytetramethylene terephthalate). The amount of said particulate calcium carbonate to be incorporated is pref. 0.01W5.0 (esp. 0.03W3)wt% based on the polyester. The component (A) is pure calcium carbonate or crude one containing at least one sort of compound such as silicon oxide, mannesium oxide, with calcium carbonate content ≥50wt%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
