abstract PURPOSE: An excellent resinous lens material having good balance among surface hardness, solvent resistance, high refractive index, and low dispersion, comprising a copolymer formed by copolymerizing two specified kinds of monomers. n CONSTITUTION: A lens material comprising a copolymer comprising 20W70wt%, based on copolymer, monomer of formula I and 20W50wt%, based on copolymer, monomer of formula II, wherein the total amount of the monomers is at least 70wt% based on copolymer. In these formulas, R 1 is H or a 1W2C alkyl, X 1 is a halogen atom (except F), m is 0W4, R 2 is H or a 1W2C alkyl, X 2 is a halogen atom (except F), p is the number of halogen substituents, and n is 1W4. Examples of the monomers of formula I include 2,2-bis-(4-methacryl-oxyethoxy-3,5- dibromophenyl)propane.
