PURPOSE:To obtain a chemically stable record with high sensitivity by providing a recording layer on one or both sides of a base plate and forming a thin org. film consisting essentially of a specific naphthoquinone dye as a recording layer which records information by a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:This optical information recording medium which is provided with a recording layer on one or borh sides of a base plate and records and reads information by a laser beam is formed with the org. thin film consisting essentially of the naphthoquinone dye expressed by the chemical structural formula I as the recording layer. The sensitivity of the medium is increased preferably by matching approximately the absorption peaks of the recording wavelength and the recording layer and therefore a substituent is added to the naphthoquinone dye. The naphthoquinone dye is stable under the environmental conditions of relatively high temp. and high humidity and does not show the deterioration by oxidation in air unlike a Te alloy. Said compd. has low heat conductivity and the value thereof is 1/10-1/100 the value of metal. The diffusion of heat in the medium during laser light recording is thus decreased and the medium temp. in the light irradiated part is efficiently elevated. |
