abstract NEW MATERIAL:An imidazole derivative of formula I (Ar is phenyl, naphthyl, furyl or thienyl which may be substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkoxyl, lower alkylamino or OH, etc.; R is alkyl, lower alkenyl or phenylalkyl) or an acid addition salt thereof. n EXAMPLE: 1-(4'-Chlorophenyl)-4-(imidazol-1"-yl)-1-hexen-3-one). n USE: Capable of exhibiting improved antifungal activity and antibacterial activity against microorganisms, e.g. pathogens such as Nocardia asteroides, aquatic fungi or bacteria, e.g. Staphylococcus aureus for humans and animals, etc., and useful as an agent. n PREPARATION: A compound of formula II (X is halogen) is reacted with imidazole in an amount of 1W5mol based on 1mol compound of formula II in an inert solvent at 10W100°C to afford the aimed compound of formula I . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
