abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a composition giving a photoset film with high strength and forming a high-contrast visible image with high sensitivity by adding a specified acylhaloacetic ester deriv. to a photopolymerizable composition as a photopolymn. initiator. CONSTITUTION:To a photosensitive composition contg. a compound having two or more ethylenic unsatd. double bonds in the molecule is added a compound represented by formula I [where Ar is (substituted) aryl; X is -CO- or -SO2-; Y is Cl or Br; R is H, Cl or Br; and R' is (substituted) alkyl, acyl, or aralkyl] as a photopolymn. initiator. The compound may be added in combination with ketone represented by formula II (where each R'' is C1-6 alkyl or cycloalkylene, and two R'' groups bonding to the same N atom may form tetramethylene, oxybisethylene or the like) when light of short wavelengths is irradiated from a mercury lamp or the like. A photopolymerizable composition having high photosensitivity and suitable for use in the manufacture of a lithographic printing plate, a resin relief, a printed board or the like is obtd.
