titleOfInvention Production of particulate polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a specified particulate polymer of excellent heat resistance, dispersed in a nonaqueous organic liquid, by reacting an aromatic polyamine with a specified polycarboxylic acid in the presence of a specified nonaqueous organic liquid, a dispersion stabilizer, and a liquid catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyamine (e.g., 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane) is reacted with an acid anhydride group-containing polycarboxylic acid (e.g., trimellitic anhydride) and/or a polycarboxylic acid (e.g., isophthalic acid) in the presence of a nonaqueous organic liquid (e.g., n-hexane) in which the formed particulate polymer is insoluble, a dispersion stabilizer soluble in the nonaqueous organic liquid (e.g., a random copolymer of glycidyl methacrylate with lauryl methacrylate) and a liquid catalyst (e.g., a combination of N-methylpyrrolidone with phosphoric acid) to produce a particulate polymer dispersed in the nonaqueous organic liquid. This polymer has aromatic amide bonds and/or imide bonds, and is excellent in heat resistance and useful for sheets, moldings, adhesives, paints, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
