titleOfInvention Production of homoserine lactone derivative
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals, easily by reacting a fatty acid with homoserine lactone existing in the cells of microorganisms such as methanol-assimilating microorganism. n CONSTITUTION: Homoserine lactone of formula I is made to react with a fatty acid such as butyric acid, caproic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, etc. in a solvent preferably chloroform, ethyl acetate, etc. while removing the produced water from the reaction system to obtain the objective homoserine lactone derivative of formula II [R-C(=0)- is the residue of the fatty acid used as the reaction raw material]. The homoserine lactone used as a starting material can be produced e.g. by extracting the cells of a methanol-assimilating bacterial strain such as Methanomonas genus, Thiobacillus genus, etc. with an organic solvent such as alcohol, acetone, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
