titleOfInvention Crystallization of 2-(diethylamino)-n-(2,6- dimethylphenyl)-acetamide
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as a local anesthetic, in high yield, by neutralizing an acidic aqueous solution of 2-(diethylamino)-N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-acetamide in the presence of a specific organic solvent. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is produced by neutralizing an acidic aqueous solution of 2-(diethylamino)-N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-acetamide with an alkaline aqueous solution in the presence of a proper amount of an aliphatic hydrocarbon or an alicyclic hydrocarbon (e.g. n-hexane, methylcyclohexane, etc.) under stirring while keeping two liquid layers, usually at 0W50°C. n EFFECT: Relatively large-sized colorless prismatic crystal having extremely uniform beautiful crystal form can be obtained. The crystals can be stored without causing caking. The size of the crystal can be controlled freely by adjusting the amount of the hydrocarbon. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
