abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a herbicide effective to various weeds, especially to annual gramineous weeds, and harmless to rice plant and corn, by using a halogen-substituted benzylamine compound amide derivative of a specific α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid as an active component. n CONSTITUTION: The objective herbicide contains one or more α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid amide derivatives of formula [X is H, halogen or cyano; Y is halogen, nitro or cyano; Z is bond between N and C or 1W15C alkylene (which may contain O or S in the alkylene chain or at the chain end); R 1 is aliphatic hydrocarbon group: R 2 is H, halogen or 1W7C hydrocarbon group; R 3 is H or 1W10C hydrocarbon group; m is 0W5] (e.g. the compound of formula II), as active component. The compound of formula I can be prepared economically in an industrial scale and has excellent safety. The herbicide is soluble in water as well as oil, and exhibits excellent rapid activity especially by foliar treatment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
