titleOfInvention Polysaccharide active to lower triglyceride level
abstract NEW MATERIAL:Polysaccharide TRS having the following properties. [alpha]D<29>= +190.1 (1.8w/v% aqueous solution); molecular weight, 14,000+ or -3,000; sugar constitution, 70.3% glucose, 13.7% rhamnose, and rest part of uronic acid; neutral. USE:An agent to lower the blood triglyceride level and an antiarterioscelerotic agent. PREPARATION:A microbial strain belonging to Streptococcus genus [e.g. Streptococcus faecium (FERM-BP No.296), etc.] is cultured aerobically, e.g. in Rogosa medium, and centrifuged. The obtained microbial cells are suspended in physiological saline water, heated, and disintegrated with ultrasonic radiation to obtain the suspension of disintegrated cells. The suspension is defatted, centrifuged, and treated with a proteolytic enzyme such as pronase. The treated liquid is centrifuged, the supernatant liquid is added with a protein precipitator, etc. to precipitate and remove the protein fraction, and the nucleic acid component and protein component are decomposed and removed by using respective decomposition enzymes.
