titleOfInvention Magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a high-density magnetic recording medium which has stable short wavelength output regardless of a magnetic head and high output by constituting a magnetic recording layer of a thin partially oxidized ferromagnetic metallic film having the microprojections of which the projections having the max. height consist of a Cr oxide. n CONSTITUTION: The thin partially oxidized ferromagnetic metallic film 3 consisting of Co, Co-Ni, etc. is formed on the surface of a high-polymer substrate 1 of polyethylene terephthalate, etc. on which the projections are formed by dispersing and coating org. fine particles 2 of polyimide, etc. or inorg. fine particles of SiO 2 , CaF 2 , etc. The vapor flow 14 of a metal 11 which is a material for vapor deposition is deposited by evaporation on the surface of, for example, a film 7 for the substrate 1 at about 90°Wθmin40° incident angle while the film 7 is fed along a cylindrical can 6 under rotation in an arrow direction; at the same time Cr is supplied from a Cr supply machine tank 12 to the center of the metal 11 and is deposited by evaporation under about 7×10 -6 Torr partial pressure of oxygen. The Cr particles having about 20μ average grain size are supplied in the moving direction of the film 7 under scanning back and forth in said direction and are thereby charaged to the metal 11 by which Cr is evaporated and the magnetic layer 3 having the microprojections consisting of the Cr oxide and the projections 4 of the largest height consisting of the Cr oxide is formed. A lubricating agent layer 5 is then provided on said layer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
