titleOfInvention | Ester derivative of 4-acylaminobenzoic acid |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is alkyl; Z is NO 2 , CN or F). n EXAMPLE: 4'-Nitrophenyl 4-nonanoylaminobenzoate. n USE: A component in liquid crystal compositions. n PREPARATION: An alkanoyl chloride is reacted with aminobenzoic acid to synthesize an acylaminobenzoic acid, which is then reacted with thionyl chloride to give an acylaminobenzoyl chloride. The resultant acylaminobenzoyl chloride is reacted with a 4-substituted phenol having cyano, nitro and fluorine atom in the presence of pyridine to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. The above-mentioned compound expressed by formula I is used as a component in liquid crystal compositions having large dielectric anisotropy and enlarging the smectic phase when formed into liquid crystal compositions by combination with another liquid crystal compound, and utilizable for example, twisted nematic (TN) displays, thermal addressing displays, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
