titleOfInvention Novel catechol derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:Catechol derivatives expressed by formula I (R represents H or lower alkyl; A and B respectively represent 1W20C alkylene optionally substituted by OH; X represents O or S; Y represents H, OH, phenyl or lower alkoxyl or lower alkylthio which may be substituted by phenyl or OH). n EXAMPLE: 2-[11-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)undecyloxy]ethanol. n USE: Remedies and preventives for various allergic diseases, e.g. bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis and urticaria, due to SRS-A (slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis) and ischemic heart diseases due to the SRS-A or inflammation. n PREPARATION: For example, a (3,4-disubstituted phenyl)alkanol expressed by formula II is halogenated, and reacted with an alkali metal alcoholate, followed by, if necessary, elimination of protecting groups to obtain the compound expressed by formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
