titleOfInvention Aqueous dispersion of ketene dimer
abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled dispersion having excellent storage stability even at a high concentration, and capable of effectively imparting a cellulosic fiber with sizing property, water-proofing property, etc., by dispersing a ketene dimer compound in an aqueous continuous phase containing an acrylamide polymer having cationic group. CONSTITUTION:(A) A ketene dimer compound of formula (R1 and R2 are 8-30C hydrocarbon group, preferably alkyl group) is mixed with (B) a polymer having a molecular weight of preferably 2,000-1,000,000 and containing (meth)acrylamide as main recurring unit, wherein 1-50mol% of the polymer-constituting monomer has cationic group or further <=30mol% thereof has anionic group, (preferably Hoffmann decomposition product or Mannich reaction product of an acrylamide polymer). The weight ratio of the component A to the component B is 100:(2-45). A and B are mixed together in an aqueous medium at a temperature above the melting point of the component A, and are dispersed homogeneously with a homomixer, etc.
