abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R is lower alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 1-{ 4-Chloro-2-fluoro-5-[ ( 1-ethoxycarbonyl )ethoxy ]phenyl }-4-difluoromethyl-3-methyl-Δ 2 -1,2,4-triazolin-5-one. n USE: Useful as an agricultural chemical, especially as a herbicide. Showing improved herbicidal action on weeds before germination and in growth period, and effective for soil treatment before seeding (planting) of crops in paddy field, such as soybean, cotton, maize, etc. n PREPARATION: A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III (Z 1 is Cl, Br, etc.) in an inert solvent such as benzene, etc. in the presence of a base such as NaOH, etc. at 50W150°C for 0.5W 10hr, to give a compound shown by the formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
