PURPOSE: To obtain a γ-halo-β-hydroxybutyric ester in high yield, by treating a γ-haloacetoacetic ester with a specific fungus. n CONSTITUTION: A γ-haloacetoacetic ester is treated with at least one fungus selected from the group consisting of Trichosporon, Rhodotorula, Debaryomyces, Cryptococcus, Torulopsis, and Candida, to give a γ-halo-β-hydroxybutyric ester. Trichosporon cutaneum (IFO 1198), Rhodotorula texensis (IFO 0920), etc. may be cited as the fungus to be used. The reaction of the fungus with the γ-haloacetoacetic ester is carried out by dispersing the fungus into an aqueous system (water, sodium chloride injection, buffer solution, medium, etc.), adding a saccharide, etc. as an energy source to it, adding the ester to it, shaking or stirring them at 10W70°C for about 0.1W100hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
