titleOfInvention Method for bonding fiber and rubber
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a bonded article having excellent flexing properties, fatigue resistance and adhesion, by bonding a specified arom. polyamide fiber and an unvulcanized rubber through an adhesive compsn. composed of a high-molecular resorcinol/HCHO precondensate and a rubber latex. n CONSTITUTION: An arom. amide such as poly-p-phenyleneterephthalamide is introduced into a zone under reduced pressure of 10 -3 W10Torr where its surface is treated in a gas atmosphere composed of a (non)polymerizable or vaporizable gas alone or their mixture with low-temperature plasma generated by exciting the gas with audio wave, high-frequency wave or microwave. The treated fiber is immersed in an aq. soln. of an adhesive consisting of 5W30wt% high-molecular resorcinol/HCHO precondensate obtd. by reacting 1mol of resorcinol with 0.8W 7.5mol of HCHO, 95W70wt% rubber latex and optionally a low-molecular resorcinol/HCHO precondensate and a polyhydric phenol polysulfide. After the adhesive is cured by heating, an unvulcanized rubber is brought into contact with the fiber and vulcanized, whereby the fiber and the rubber can be firmly bonded. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
