titleOfInvention Medical polyester copolymer composition
abstract PURPOSE: The titled composition suitable for use as a material for, for example, medical instruments in direct contact with blood, obtained by reacting an acid component essentially consisting of terephthalic acid with a glycol component containing a low-MW glycol and a polyalkylene glycol. n CONSTITUTION: The purpose medical polyester copolymer composition is prepared by reacting an acid component containing terephthalic acid as an essential component and 20W50mol% acid components other than terephthalic acid (e.g., isophthalic acid) with a glycol component containing a low-MW glycol of an MW≤250 (e.g., ethylene glycol) and 5W40wt%, based on the total polymer, polyalkylene glycol (e.g., polypropylene glycol) of a number-average MW of about 300W60,000. When this material is in contact with blood, no thrombus forms, so that it can be suitably used as a material for catheters, blood bags, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
