PURPOSE:To record with excellent fastness, by a method wherein a metal complex forming compound is used as a sublimable compound, and a metal capable of reacting with the compound is used in a recording material, in a thermal transfer recording method using a sublimable compound. CONSTITUTION:A sublimable compound capable of forming a metal complex, such as a diazo dye of any of formulas I -IV and an azomethine compound of any of formulas V-VII, is mixed with a resin based on rosin, phenol, xylene or the like and a solvent or the like to prepare an ink, and the ink is applied to a base such as a paper and a plastic film having a thickness of not larger than 50mum to obtain a transfer sheet. A metallic salt for forming a complex with the sublimable compound is mixed with an appropriate resin, a solvent, water or the like, and the resultant mixture is applied to a base to produce a recording material. In addition to the resin and the solvent, a nonionic surface active agent may be added to the mixture. The ink-applied side of the transfer sheet and the metal-applied side of the recording material are laid on each other, and thermal transfer recording is conducted by a thermal head. |
