titleOfInvention Solid carrier for control of lipid metabolism
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled carrier produced by a specific fused cell, having immobilized monoclonal antibody, and useful for the adsorption and removal of cholesterol. n CONSTITUTION: An antibody-producing cell existing in the spleen or the lymph node of an animal immunized with an apolipoprotein B (e.g. apo B100, apo B48, etc.) is fused with the myeloma cell of the same or different kind of animal, and a fused cell producing a specific monoclonal antibody is separated by cloning. The cell is cultured in a proper medium or in the body of an animal to effect the immobilization of the monoclonal antibody which reacts specifically with the apolipoprotein B in the human plasma but does not react with the other apolipoproteins. A solid carrier for the control of lipid metabolism and useful for the adsorption and removal of the very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and/ or low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in blood plasma can be prepared by the above process. It can be used effectively for the remedy of hyperlipemia, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
