titleOfInvention Eye drops
abstract PURPOSE: To provide clear eye drops of sulfa drug, resistant remarkably to discoloration, by adding a reducing sulfate and a hydrophilic nonionic surface active agent to eye drops containing a sulfa drug and glycyrrhizic acid or its salt. n CONSTITUTION: A reducing sulfate (e.g. sodium sulfite, potassium sulfite, etc.) and a hydrophilic nonionic surface active agent (e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate) are added to eye drops containing a sulfa drug (e.g. sulfamethoxazole) and glycyrrhizic acid or its salt. The preferable amount of the reducing sulfate is 0.02W0.2%(W/V) and that of the hydrophilic nonionic surface active agent is 0.05W0.2%(W/V). Eye drops having extremely high resistance to discoloration and storable for a long period without causing color development can be obtained by the combined use of a reducing sulfate and a hydrophilic nonionic surface active agent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
