abstract | PURPOSE:To provide the titled recording paper which can be recorded more inexpensively, with less noise and more speedily as compared with other recording papers, by incorporating at least one fluoran compound as a color former. CONSTITUTION:The thermal recording paper comprises as a color former at least one novel fluoran compound having a heterocyclic alkyl group at the 6- position, of formula I, wherein R1 is heterocyclic alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, 1-8C alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, cyclohexyalkyl, or phenyl or aralkyl which may be substituted by halogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy or acyl, and each of R3 and R4 is hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl. The fluoran compound is substantially colorless per se, but upon contact with an electron-acceptive substance, it rapidly forms a color. Namely, the fluoran compound forms a blackish color on making contact with a phenol derivative such as bisphenol A or a carboxylic acid ester such as benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate. |
