abstract PURPOSE:A composition for the oral cavity, obtained by incorporating glycol salicylate and/or acetylsalicylic acid with other components, and capable of suppressing effectively foul breath and inhibiting the formation of sordes on teeth. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity, obtained by incorporating 0.01-5wt% preferably 0.05-1wt%, based on the total composition, glycol salicylate and/or acetylsalicylic acid or Na, Ca or Mg salts thereof, etc. with other components. The above-mentioned compound has inhibitory effect on production of methyl mercaptan and growth of Actinomyces viscosus. Thus, the foul breath caused by the methyl mercaptan is suppressed, and the formation of sordes on teeth is inhibited at the same time.
