titleOfInvention Pigment dispersant
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a dispersant which permits prepn. of a slurry having a high concn. of a pigment to a low viscosity with good stability with the smaller amt. of use by consisting the dispersant of a carboxylic acid-contg. polysaccharide oxide formed by oxidizing and cleaving the polysaccharide having a six-membered monosaccharide ring. n CONSTITUTION: The polysaccharide having the six-membered monosaccharide ring (e.g.; starch) is subjected to oxidation cleavage, by which the pigment dispersant consisting of the polysaccharide oxide contg. at least 10% the carboxyl group unit expressed by the formula as the essential structural unit is constituted. [In the formula, A is CH 2 OR or COOM, R is H or (CH 2 ) n -COOM, M is H or alkali metal ion or ammonium group, n is 1W3 integer.] Such pigment dispersant permits stable prepn. of the slurry having a high concn. and low viscosity from calcium carbonate, clay, kaolin, titanium oxide, etc. with the smaller amt. of use. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
