titleOfInvention Production of flame-resistant polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled polyester having excellent flame resistance, suppressing the dissipation of phosphorus compound from the system, by adding a bisphenol S compound and a phosphonic acid compound having free OH group, and carrying out the polycondensation in low vacuum. n CONSTITUTION: The bisphenol S compound of formula (R 1 and R 2 are H, lower alkyl, aryl, etc.) is added to the system of the polycondensation of a bifunctional carboxylic acid component composed mainly of terephthalic acid and a glycol component composed mainly of ethylene glycol at an arbitrary stage before the completion of the reaction. The amount of the bisphenol S is 0.1W10mol% based on the acid component in terms of the bisphenol S skeleton. When the intrinsic viscosity of the system reaches preferably ≥0.3, a phosphone compound of formula II (R is aliphatic group, aromatic group, etc.) having free OH group, e.g. methylphosphonic acid, etc. is added to the system in an amount of 0.1W2.5wt% in terms of phosphorus atom, and the polycondensation is completed at the final vacuum degree of ≥1mmHg to obtain the objective polyester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
