abstract PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion resistance, weather resistance, stain resistanc, etc. of the surface of a polymeric material, by mixing the polymeric material with a specific block copolymer consisting of a fluorine-containing polymer component and a polymer component compatible with said polymerica material. n CONSTITUTION: A polymer having peroxy bond or azo bond is prepared by polymerizing (A) a monomer selected from (i) a fluorine-containing vinyl monomer and (ii) a fluorine-free vinyl monomer capable of forming a polymer component compatible with the polymeric material to be treated, in the presence of (B) a polymerization initiator comprising a polymeric peroxide or a polyazo compound. (C) the monomer other than the one used in the component A is copolymerized using the above polymer as a polymerization initiator, and the obtained block copolymer is added to the polymeric material to effect the surface modification of the material. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
